Snow-Covered Roads Cause One-Vehicle Crash in Washington Twp.

car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85-300x225WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT)– DuBois-based State Police say around 5:30 p.m. on February 14, a one-car accident occurred on Interstate 80, at mile marker 94, in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, 21-year-old Cody A. Smirga was traveling west on I-80 in the right lane of travel and lost control of his 2000 Honda Civic while rounding a left curve in the roadway.

Police say the car spun in a clockwise motion, and the front of it struck the guide rails along the north berm of the road. The car continued spinning in a clockwise manner and came to a rest 120 feet west of the point of impact on the north berm, facing east.

Smirga was using a seat belt and was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.
