Snow-Covered Roadway Causes Four-Vehicle Crash on Route 119; Two Injured

HENDERSON TWP., (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say a four-vehicle accident occurred yesterday afternoon on State Route 119, north of Rock Dump Road, in Henderson Township, Jefferson County.

Police say the collision happened around 2:30 p.m. as a 2015 Ford F150 pickup – driven by 30-year-old Charles D. Powell, of Mayport – was traveling northbound on State Route 119. Three other vehicles – a 2009 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 33-year-old Helen L. Forsyth, of Punxsutawney; a 2007 Ford Edge, driven by 27-year-old Rickey A. Schoening, of Punxsutawney; and a 2016 1500 truck, driven by 65-year-old Kenneth R. Stewart, of Punxsutawney – were traveling southbound.

Powell lost control of his Ford F150 pickup on the snow-covered roadway and entered the southbound lane. It sideswiped the Toyota and then struck the Ford Edge head-on. The 1500 truck then struck the rear of the Ford Edge.

The Ford F150 came to a final rest in the northbound lane facing southwest.

The Toyota Tacoma came to a final rest in the southbound lane facing south.

The Ford Edge came to a final rest off the west side of the roadway facing south.

The 1500 truck came to a final rest in the southbound lane facing south.

Powell and Stewart were not injured.

Forsyth and Schoening suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Punxsutawney Hospital and Penn Highlands DuBois respectively.

All occupants were using seat belts.

Powell was charged with a traffic violation.

Jefferson County EMS assisted at the scene.

All vehicle sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Brosius Towing, T&D Towing, and Roebuck’s Southside Towing.
