The award is given annually to the most outstanding strength & conditioning coach in each of Minor League Baseball’s 16 domestic leagues by the PBSCCS. The organization is represented by major league and minor league strength and conditioning coaches from each MLB organization. Its focus is to provide education, community outreach awareness, and long-term athletic development information about our roles and responsibilities in professional baseball. The Society is also a valuable resource to parents, player and coaches for information on improving baseball development and fitness among our nation’s youth.

More information on the PBSCCS can be found on their website at BaseballStrength.org.

Spinelli, a native of Staten Island, NY, is in his first season as the Spikes’ Strength & Conditioning Coach, and has helped bolster the club’s on-field performance throughout the year. The Spikes hold a 46-23 record through August 29, which is the best mark in the NYPL.

The Springfield (MA) College graduate holds a certification with the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is also Level 1 Functional Movement Screen and Y Balanced Certified.

“We are very happy that Frank has earned such a well-deserved honor,” said Spikes General Manager Scott Walker. “We are privileged to have him here in State College, and his enthusiasm has made him a great asset to the Spikes and Cardinals organizations this season.”

Spinelli will now help keep the Spikes in great shape for the New York-Penn League playoffs, as the Pinckney Division champions seek to hunt down an NYPL title.

The Spikes conclude their 2016 regular season home schedule on Sunday night with a 6:05 p.m. matchup against the Williamsport Crosscutters. Tickets for Sunday’s game are currently on sale through the Spikes Ticket Office by calling (814) 272-1711 or by visiting in person.
