Alexander Gianvito Selected as Brookville Equipment Corporation’s Student Intern of the Month

ALEX BROOKVILLE EQUIPMENTBROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Alexander (Alex) Gianvito has been selected as Brookville Equipment Corporation’s Student Intern of the Month for July.

Alex will be starting his last semester of college this fall at Penn State – University Park. Alex has completed two full years at University Park and two years at Penn State DuBois.

Alex is from Punxsutawney, where he attended Punxsutawney Area High School. After graduating high school, Alex continued his education at Penn State DuBois, participating in the 2+2 program to major in Engineering. When he first arrived at Penn State DuBois, he was unsure which route of engineering he wanted to pursue. After taking some classes and feeling out the program, he finally declared his major to Electrical Engineering.

Due to specialty and shortage of engineers in the field, electrical engineering is one of the most sought out types of engineering.

Alex has been interested in Brookville Equipment Corporation for some time. During high school, he shadowed a current Brookville Equipment employee, Tyler Presloid. During his sophomore year of college, he applied for one of the available internships, but due to limited capacity in 2020, he couldn’t work at BROOKVILLE.

Finally, during his senior year, he applied for the internship and was hired on to be an Electrical Engineering Intern.

Alex is a member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer) at Penn State. He was also Vice President of the Engineering Club at Penn State DuBois, while he attended school there. During his free time at school, he enjoys playing pool with his friends at the pool hall.

Alex’s dream job would be engineering in a similar capacity performed at BROOKVILLE. He’s interested in large-scale manufacturing, power systems, power electronics, etc. Alex wants to work on large-scale products, that are impressive to the public eye, much like the products made at Brookville Equipment Corporation.

Alex would describe himself as a lover of power systems and power electronics. His favorite class to help him prepare for his career after college is just that, “Power Systems and Electronics.” He also really enjoys Continuous Linear Time and Variance Controls. When asked, “What draws you to your major?” He said, “I chose engineering because it is something you can make a long, successful career at and I enjoy it. I really like math. Once I realized I was really enjoying the items I was learning, I knew I was in the right major.”

Alex’s inspiration comes from his parents. Alex said “My parents have been a huge inspiration in my life. They have led me to make good decisions that will leave a positive impact on my life. However, my friends have been a huge inspiration in wanting to pursue engineering. We all went through COVID together in college, and banded together to figure out what we wanted to do with our lives.”

Outside of school, Alex enjoys hanging out with friends, being outside, fishing, and riding around.

Alex’s favorite memory of college so far is spending time in the student section at the Penn State football games. He especially loves attending the whiteout games!

His future plans include working in the Engineering Industry in some capacity. As of now, he plans to move back to Punxsutawney (his hometown) and work locally for a few years, while paying off his student debt. After that, he either wants to move out west or down south. He specifically wants to move somewhere he can buy a lot of land.

Alex started at Brookville Equipment after the spring 2023 semester. He has been enjoying all of the real-world experiences he has been learning so far.
