Egan Dennison Selected as Brookville Equipment Corporation’s Student of the Month

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Egan Dennison has been selected as Brookville Equipment Corporation’s Student of the Month for March.

Egan Dennison is a junior at Brookville Junior/Senior High School and he comes highly recommended by his teachers to be Brookville Equipment Corporation’s BHS Student of the Month.

While in school, Egan stays very busy. Egan is a member of the swim team, track team, and the musical stage crew, where he works behind the scenes for musicals, changings, and building sets.  He also is the Vice President of the Tech and Engineering Club, as well as a member of the Humanities Club.

Egan’s favorite things to do outside of school are traveling and going places both new and old. Egan loves to spend time at his family’s condo in the Florida Keys, where they go fishing, swimming, and boating. When he spends his time in the North, he loves building model airplanes. He enjoys the process of designing and constructing them.

When asked, “Who is your biggest inspiration?,” he responded “My coach in swimming (Ray Doolittle) has been a pretty big inspiration to me. He has helped me push past my limits and believe in myself. Not only has he helped me in swim, but he has also helped me in life.” Egan also expressed his second inspiration, who is Chuck Yeager, who was a test pilot in the Air Force. He was the first pilot to ever go faster than the speed of sound. Chuck Yeager is who made Egan interested in aviation. Egan’s dream job is either being an Aerospace Engineer or an Aircraft Designer for the Air Force.

Egan enjoys his time during school, especially the time he spends in his sports. Swimming is where his true passion has been lately. He loves the social aspect of school and being able to have access to tools, which creates an experience he can enjoy and explore. Egan spends time being creative with different tech machines and printers, like sticker machines and 3D printers. He has taught himself how to 3D print. So, if he needs a part, he can create it himself.

Egan has made quite the impact on his involvements, so much so that he qualified for Districts in swimming. This was the most rewarding accomplishment for him. He felt a sense of community, through the team, classmates, and the town. Egan recently moved in 2019 from Maryland, where there was a lot of competition in sports, but once he moved to Brookville, he was worried about how he would fit in and if he would be competitive at the sports he wanted to partake in. But, once he found his passion, he realized if he trained hard and set his mind to it, he could be good at anything. Egan said, “Perseverance is key.”

Egan has been looking at multiple different options after high school, which all lead back to the same goal of being an Aerospace Engineer. He also wants to explore the possibilities of Aircraft Maintenance or being a Pilot. Egan has spent his time researching Kent State and Ohio State, along with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which is located in Daytona Beach, Florida. He is drawn to engineering because he likes to build things, like model airplanes. He also likes to figure out how things work. His favorite class is AP Physics and is also taking AP Computer Science, which he also enjoys. Next year, he will be taking AP Physics 2 and AP Calculus.

His favorite memory so far in High School is on the bus ride home from Districts, the Girls’ and Boys’ teams had a firetruck escort as they came into town after the girls won. Egan recalls both teams sticking their heads out the windows, yelling and screaming as the firetruck escorted them back with the sirens and lights on.

This summer, Egan plans to find some type of internship and job shadowing experience from different businesses around the area. He also plans to tour colleges this summer, as well as find a summer job.
