State Fire Marshal Investigates Blaze in Bloom Township

Red FiretruckBLOOM TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Around 8:57 p.m. on November 25, a fire occurred at 6084 Chestnut Grove Highway, in Bloom Township, Clearfield County.

According to DuBois-based State Police, the fire occurred inside a 53×45 garage adjacent to William Anderson’s residence.

Police say a passing motorist notified the owner that the garage was on fire.

The Brady Township Fire Department with mutual aid responded and extinguished the fire; however, the structure suffered severe damage, according to police.

The PA State Police Fire Marshal was requested to conduct an origin and cause investigation.

Police say it appears that a malfunction in the chimney system of the furnace allowed ignition of the exterior wall near a point where the chimney exited the structure.

Damage is estimated at $60,000.00 to the structure and contents, according to police..

Anderson has insurance on the garage, police say.
