State Police Calls: DUI’s, Drug Possession

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police responded to the following calls:

DUI in Washington Township

According to police, around 4:30 p.m. on October 14, a 2003 Ford Mustang was stuck in a ditch on Church Road in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

Police say upon further investigation, the driver, a known 51-year-old Reynoldsville man, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol.

The driver was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI and charges are pending.

DUI in Sandy Township

Around 5:08 p.m. on October 11, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2011 Audi A6 on Interstate 80 westbound in Sandy Township, Clearfield County.

Police say the driver, identified as 30-year-old Brandon Smith, of Youngstown, Ohio, displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.

Charges are pending blood test results.

Drug Possession in Sandy Township

Around 4:32 p.m. on September 29, DuBois-based State Police were conducting a stationary patrol and observed a Hyundai Sonata traveling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 80 westbound in Sandy Township, Clearfield County.

A traffic stop was then conducted, during which police say an odor of burnt marijuana was discovered coming from the vehicle.

According to police, the driver, identified as a 24-year-old Chicago, Illinois man, advised he had marijuana in the vehicle and turned it over to police. The driver was then asked to undergo standardized field sobriety testing after showing signs of impairment.

Police say a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of an additional smoking device.

Charges for possession and DUI are pending.

The name of the driver was not released.
