State Police Calls: DUIs, Drug Possession

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – Area state police responded to the following incidents:

DUI in Washington Township

DuBois-based State Police say a known 45-year-old Falls Creek man was involved in a possible domestic dispute at a location on Smithtown Road in Washington Township, Jefferson County, around 5:15 p.m. on March 6. It was reported that he was possibly intoxicated.

Police say upon their arrival, the suspect was driving his vehicle, a 2012 Ford F-150, in front of his house on Smithtown Road.

According to police, upon further investigation, the suspect was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Charges are pending.

The name of the suspect was not released.

DUI/Drug Possession in Punxsutawney Borough

Around 7:24 p.m. on March 6, Punxsutawney-based State Police initiated a traffic stop on a 1989 Buick Regal on North Alley near West Mahoning Street in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County, for an expired registration.

Police say during the stop, the driver, identified as a 57-year-old Punxsutawney man, showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance; he was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

According to police, the driver was then taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, drug possession, and possession of paraphernalia.

The name of the driver was not released.
