State Police Calls: DUI Arrest, Identity Theft

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – Area state police responded to the following calls:

DUI in Falls Creek Borough

Around 1:24 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, DuBois-based State Police initiated a traffic stop on a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado on 3rd Street near Deemer Avenue in Falls Creek Borough, Jefferson County, for summary traffic violations.

Police say through interaction with the driver, identified as a 51-year-old Brockway man, it was determined he was impaired. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

The name of the driver was not released.

Theft by Deception/Identity Theft in Bell Township

On May 17, Punxsutawney-based State Police were contacted by a known 76-year-old male victim from Punxsutawney regarding a report of identity theft.

Police say an unknown individual attempted to use the victim’s social security number to file for unemployment compensation sometime between April 25 and May 17.

The investigation is ongoing.
