State Police Calls: Investigation of Unemployment Scam Underway

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police responded to the following calls: 

Investigation of Unemployment Scam Underway

PSP DuBois received a report of an unemployment scam at 12:48 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, in Falls Creek Borough, Jefferson County.

Police say a known 32-year-old male victim reported that an unknown actor(s) opened up an unemployment account in his name.

The investigation is ongoing.

DuBois Man Accused of Domestic Violence

DuBois-based State Police responded to a welfare check at a residence along 10th Avenue in Brockway Borough, Jefferson County, around 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20.

Police say it was determined that a known 43-year-old DuBois man was involved in a physical domestic altercation earlier in the evening with a known 44-year-old female victim of Brockway.

According to police, the victim reported she was pushed to the ground and hit in the head by the suspect.

The victim had no visible injuries, police said.

Charges of Harassment are pending through Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office.
