State Police Calls: Local Man’s Personal Info Stolen Through Fraudulent ‘Facebook Help Line’

JEFFERSON/INDIANA CO., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to the following incidents:

Local Man’s Personal Info Stolen Through Fraudulent ‘Facebook Help Line’

PSP Punxsutawney received a report of an incident of theft by deception that happened at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, on Bennett Road in Rose Township, Jefferson County.

Police say an unknown actor(s) identified themselves as a “Facebook Help Line” and gained possession of the victim’s personal identifying information.

The victim is a 74-year-old Brookville man.

This investigation is ongoing.

Juvenile Victim of Indecent Assault

According to a report released on Thursday, May 25, PSP Punxsutawney received a report alleging an indecent assault in Glen Campbell Borough, Indiana County.

Police say the incident occurred between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 28.

The victim is listed as a juvenile.
