State Police Calls: ‘Large-Scale’ Burglary Under Investigation in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON CO., (EYT) — Punxsutawney-based State Police investigated the following incidents.

Home of Young Township Resident Burglarized

Police are investigating a “large-scale burglary” at a residence in the 300 block of Laughbaum Drive in Young Township, Jefferson County.

The burglary occurred sometime between October 7 and 9.

Missing items included free-standing metal tool cabinets, several hand and gardening tools, circular saws, weed eaters, chainsaws, pole saws, work lamps, hardware, ladders, gas cans, garbage cans and 300 feet of copper tubing.

Also, several antique items were taken, including furniture, picture frames, jewelry boxes, mirrors, lamps, figurines, brass beds. Several electronic items were stolen as well, including a CPU, printer, MP3 player, compact discs, CD player, large wooden speakers and pet-related items that included bedding, kennels, medications and a 50-gallon watering trough.

Police believe the thieves spent several hours removing the items using multiple trucks and possibly trailers.

Man Claims Car Theft

Curtis Hoffman, 51, of Northpoint, said a known person sold a vehicle that was jointly owned by him between October 1 and 31 at 2252 River Road, Parks Township, Armstrong County.
