Local Man Loses Security Deposit to Person Pretending to Be Landlord

DuBois-based State Police investigated a theft that happened on Steeletown Drive in Snyder Township, Jefferson County, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.

Police say the victim was scammed out of a security deposit sent electronically to a person pretending to be a landlord of an apartment in DuBois.

According to police, the security deposit, which was sent through PayPal, was worth $154.95.

The victim is a 62-year-old Brockway man.

Leads Sought in Trespassing Case

According to a report released on Saturday, April 20, PSP Marienville investigated an incident of trespassing on Miller Road, in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.

Police say an unknown actor(s) trespassed onto the complainant’s property and searched through their vehicle sometime between 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, and 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17.

According to police, nothing was taken from the property or the vehicle,  a 2013 Honda CRV.

Corruption of Minors Incident

PSP DuBois investigated an incident of corruption of minors that happened around 12:28 a.m. on March 18, according to a release issued on Sunday, April 21.

Police say the victim received a message on Snapchat from an unknown person asking for “obscene pictures of her.”

The victim is a 12-year-old female from Falls Creek.
