State Police Investigate Three Structure Fires in DuBois

DUBOIS, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police investigated three structure fires that occurred in DuBois, Clearfield County.

Police Seek Information on Person Responsible for Fire in Unoccupied Residence on East Park Ave

DuBois-based State Police are investigating a structure fire that occurred November 17 at 6 p.m. at an unoccupied residence at 116 East Park Avenue in DuBois, Clearfield County.

Police say an unknown actor(s) allegedly entered the unoccupied residence and attempted to start a fire inside the structure in multiple different areas.

The damage to the residence is estimated at $10,000, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.

State Police: Electrical Malfunction Responsible for House Fire on Knarr Street

According to DuBois-based State Police, an accidental house fire occurred November 22 around 12:47 a.m. on Knarr Street in DuBois, Clearfield County.

Police say the fire originated on the exterior of the home at the cable connection box.

An electrical malfunction allegedly let to the ground wire becoming energized.

The energized wire caused the metal cable connection to become hot enough to cause the exterior of the home to begin to smolder and ignite.

A neighbor noticed the small fire, and alerted 911 and the 51-year-old male homeowner.

The homeowner then put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, say police.

The DuBois Volunteer Fire Department responded, completed overhaul, and checked for fire extension.

Police say damage to the home was minimal and is estimated at approximately $10,000.

Apartment Complex Blaze Causes $75,000 in Damages, Displaces Five Tenets

According to DuBois-based State Police, the Fire Marshal and DuBois City Fire Department investigated the origin of a fire that occurred November 26 around 5:29 p.m. at a residential apartment building on N. Jared Street in DuBois, Clearfield County.

The fire allegedly originated on the 2nd floor of the building. Police say none of three 2nd floor tenets were home at the time of the fire.

Two 1st floor residents were in their apartment at the time of the fire, but escaped without injury.

Damage to building belonging to a Luthersburg man is estimated at $75,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to police.
