State Police Investigating Accidental Shooting in Bell Township

investigationBELL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police are investigating an accidental shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in Bell Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, the incident occurred around 2:56 p.m. at a residence on Cloe Church Street. A known, 39-year-old man had just finished loading a revolver and dropped the weapon. He reached out in an attempt to catch the weapon midair, causing it to fire. His hand and abdomen were injured.

He was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries are unknown.
