State Police Investigating Attempted Identity Theft in Perry Township

PERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police are investigating an incident of attempted identity theft.

Around 10:16 a.m. on July 16, Punxsutawney-based State Police received a call from a known 76-year-old Punxsutawney woman who asked to speak to a trooper about an unknown person attempting to switch her mailing address from Hamilton Markton Road, in Perry Township, Jefferson County, to another location.

Police say troopers spoke to the victim and then found that an unknown individual had attempted to steal the victim’s identity.

The investigation is ongoing.
