State Police Investigating Brawl in Sykesville


SYKESVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — DuBois-based State Police are investigating an assault involving several people that occurred on Wednesday night in Sykesville.

According to police, around 7:10 p.m. a fight broke out in the parking lot of the Grant Street Apartments.

A known, 24-year-old Luthersburg man was assaulted, resulting in no obvious injury.

A second victim, a known, Sykesville 46-year-old man was assaulted, possibly with a baseball bat or similar object, and suffered head and facial injuries. He received treatment at Penn Highlands DuBois.

A third victim, a 19-year-old Sykesville female was also assaulted and had a minor injury.

A vehicle, driven by the 24-year-old Luthersburg man and owned by the 46-year-old Sykesville man, was damaged by one of the suspects who used a bat or similar object to smash the front and rear windows and break a right rear tail light and a right front headlight.

Police say there are two known suspects involved and more suspects are possible.

Trooper Michael D’Andrea was assisted at the scene by Cpl. Arnold Stutsman and Troopers Joseph Caputo, Ian MacTavish, and Chad Himes.

The investigation continues.
