State Police Investigating Suspicious Person Who Approached Child at School Bus Stop in Clymer Borough

CLYMER, Pa. – Troop A State Police are investigating after a female juvenile reported that she was approached by an unknown adult male passerby while waiting at a school bus stop on Friday morning in Clymer Borough.

Troopers believe the incident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. as the juvenile was alone and waiting for her school bus near the intersection of Spring Avenue and Penn Street (SR 403).

The juvenile reported that a larger-sized, dark gray SUV was traveling north on SR 403. The vehicle was traveling slowly when the driver, described as a heavy-set white male, approximately 60-70 years of age with short, white hair asked her if she wanted some candy. The man was reported to not be wearing glasses.

The man was reported to have remained in the vehicle during the encounter and spoke to the juvenile from the open driver’s door window. The man did not display anything to the juvenile or make any other statements.

The juvenile advised that upon hearing the man speak to her, she immediately fled and notified her mother, who then also observed the vehicle as it proceeded north on State Route 403 and turned right onto Wilson Street. The juvenile’s mother then called 911.

Troopers are being assisted by the Clymer Police Department and encourage anyone with information to immediately contact 911 or Troop A, Indiana at 724-357-1960.
