Statewide Trout Fishing Season Opens Saturday

WARREN, Pa. – Statewide trout fishing season opens on Saturday, April 13, this includes the Allegheny National Forest (ANF).

Here are some friendly reminders to ensure every visitor enjoys the Forest, recreates by the rules, and has an enjoyable fishing season.

Fishing Information

The USDA Forest Service would like to remind anglers that all rules, regulations, stocking schedules and fishing guidelines can be found on the PennsylvanCommission’s Boat Commissions website at www.fishandboat.com.

Camping and Fishing

Anglers, campers and visitors are reminded that, with exception to fee based campground campsites, reserving dispersed or primitive campsites along the rivers and/or waterways is strictly prohibited.

Visitors and campers must occupy their campsite the evening of establishing it and every 24-hours thereafter, unless a special use permit has been granted.

Anglers, campers and visitors are reminded that camping along the Clarion River and Millstone Roads is limited to designated sites only.

All visitors are responsible for removing all of the trash they brought with them and/or created while recreating on the Forest.

The Forest Service will be monitoring for such activities. Those found in violation of these rules can be subject to criminal charges.

Cold Water Lifejackets Rule

All persons are required by law to wear a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PFD or life jacket) during the cold weather months from November 1 through April 30 while underway or at anchor on boats less than 16 feet in length or any canoe or kayak.

The Allegheny (Kinzua) Reservoir (In accordance with Forest Supervisor Order 17-009)

Camping is prohibited on the shores and within 1500 feet inland from the tee line around the Allegheny Reservoir.

Camping is prohibited within 1500 feet on either side of the center line of the Allegheny Scenic Drive (includes Longhouse Scenic Drive and portions of State Routes 59, 346, and 321) and the main access roads into Jakes Rocks and Rimrock Recreation Area.

It is prohibited to go into or be upon the shoreline and area near the River-Corydon Cemetery, Elk Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania for the protection of objects and area of historical interest.
