Suspected Drunk Driver Injured After Crashing Motorcycle in Gaskill Township

GASKILL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say Punxsutawney man was transported to a local hospital following a motorcycle crash in Gaskill Township Wednesday afternoon.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 5:31 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, a 23-year-old Punxsutawney man was operating a 2003 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, traveling south on Bowers Road just south of Hartzfeld Road in Gaskill Township.

Police say the man began negotiating a left-hand curve in the road while in the oncoming lane, and upon exiting the curve, he exited the west side of the highway and tipped the vehicle onto its right side.

The driver was wearing a helmet. He was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS for suspected minor injuries.

The motorcycle was disabled as a result of the crash.

Police say the driver is suspected of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and the investigation is ongoing.

His name was not released.
