Suspected DUI Rollover Crash on Route 36 Leaves Two Injured

ROSE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, a suspected DUI accident occurred on State Route 36, north of Hayes Road, in Rose Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 25-year-old Allen J. Bowen, of Brookville, was traveling north on SR 36 and lost control of his 2004 Jeep Liberty as it began descending a downgrade in the highway.

The Jeep began spinning in a counter clockwise direction while traveling across the road and subsequently traveled off the west side of the roadway, impacting a utility pole with the passenger’s side rear door of the Jeep, according to police.

The impact caused the Jeep to spin 180 degrees in a clockwise direction and ultimately coming to rest on its driver’s side facing east.

Bowen was extricated from the vehicle; Jefferson County EMS transported him to the Brookville Hospital to be treated for moderate injuries.

According to police, he is under investigation for suspicion of DUI.

A passenger in his vehicle, 24-year-old Mark S. Battaglia, of Brookville, received minor injuries and was transported to the Brookville Hospital by a third party.

Seat belts were not used by either man.

Police say the crash remains under active investigation, and charges are pending.
