Teen Arrested With Stolen Handgun in Brookville

BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – The Brookville Borough Police Department arrested a man found with a stolen handgun following a crash on Tuesday.

Brookville Borough Police were dispatched to investigate a three-vehicle crash on Allegheny Boulevard around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4.

According to police, a witness reported a man involved in the crash had run away from the scene and then came back.

Police say following some questioning, the man, identified as a 19-year-old DuBois man, lead police to a Kimber .380 handgun he had hidden along Allegheny Boulevard, and the gun was then determined to have been stolen from a location in Sandy Township, Clearfield County.

Police note that since Pennsylvania is under an active state of emergency due to the opioid epidemic, additional charges were filed against the suspect.

According to police, charges of possession of stolen property, possession of a firearm without a license, and prohibited acts during an emergency after an investigation were filed through District Court 54-3-03.

The suspect, whose name wasn’t released, was then turned over to Clearfield County authorities for outstanding warrants and was lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
