Teen Injured in Chest Township Crash

CHEST TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a teen was injured in a crash in Chest Township on Saturday afternoon.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 2:06 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 19-year-old Gordon J. Hines, of La Jose, Pa., was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, traveling east on Five Points Road, just west of Main Street in Chest Township, Clearfield County.

Police say Hines failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and struck a bridge abutment. The vehicle then came to a rest against the bridge abutment facing east.

Hastings Area Ambulance Association transported Hines to Minors Hospital for suspected minor injuries.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was removed from the scene by Smitty’s Towing.

Westover Area Volunteer Fire Company and Hastings Area Ambulance assisted at the scene.

Hines was cited for a speed violation.
