Teens Jump from Moving Car in Bell Twp. Crash

BELL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a two-vehicle crash occurred late Friday night on Troutville Road, in Bell Township, Clearfield County.

According to police, around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, October 13, a 16-year-old DuBois female was driving a 2009 Honda CRV south on Route 3009 in Bell Township when a deer jumped in front of her vehicle. When the teen applied the brakes, her Honda was struck in the rear by a 2007 Nissan Xterra, driven by another a 16-year-old DuBois female.

Police say the driver of the Nissan got out of the vehicle without shifting the vehicle into park, and it drifted backward about 100 yards striking several shrubs before coming to a rest. Two other passengers in the Nissan also jumped from the vehicle as it drifted backward.

The teen driver of the Honda and a 15-year-old female passenger, of DuBois, were not injured.

Both individuals were using seat belts.

The teen driver of the Nissan and three female passengers – two 16-year-old females, of DuBois, and a 16-year-old female, of Penfield – suffered minor injuries.

They were treated at Penn Highlands DuBois.

A 15-year-old female passenger of the Nissan from Rockton was not injured.

Corporal Burkett assisted Trooper Dandrea at the scene.

Both teen drivers were charged with traffic violations.
