Thelma R. Winders

Thelma WindersThelma R. Winders, 83, of Montmorenci Road in Ridgway, died on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh in the presence of her family.

She was born November 29, 1933, in Munderf, to the late Glenn and Beulah (Wingard) Mortimer and she was married to the late Donald D. Winders.

She resided in Ridgway and attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ridgway, Ridgway Church of the Nazarene, First Baptist Church in St. Mary’s, Weedville Wesleyan Church in Weedville, and the Free Methodist in Ridgway.

Her great love was to serve God by teaching children in Sunday School when she was younger and she always looked for opportunities to share her love for the Lord with others.

She worked for her father at the Western Auto Store in Brockway and then Sylvania in St. Mary’s.

After marrying Donald she raised their three daughters and supported the family and community as a seamstress which was her passion.

Surviving children of the late Donald and Thelma Winders are their three daughters: Rosella D. Bowers (Rev. Charles Bowers) of Morgantown, West Virginia, Brenda Weisenberger (Karl )of Vienna, Virginia, and Marlene Burnheimer (Thomas )of Bluff City, Tennessee.

Thelma was also the proud grandmother of 5 surviving grandchildren: Rodney & Robbin Bowers, Micah Weisenberger, Derek & Alisha Burnheimer.

Thelma was blessed having close and supportive living brothers and sisters, Bill Mortimer (Irma )of Carlock, Illinois; Don Mortimer (Neil )of Corning, New York; June Grinnen ( Kent )of DuBois, Pennsylvania; Ida Atwell (John) of Brookville, Pennsylvania; Jim Mortimer ( Bonnie)of Munderf, Pennsylvania; and Bertha Shaffer ( Dick) of Brockway, Pennsylvania.

She also had two beloved sisters who have passed on: Alta McKendree and surviving husband Dallas of Munderf, Pennsylvania, and Erma Frieders and surviving husband Gary of Bel Air, Maryland.

Friends and Family will be received at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. 1033 Fourth Avenue, Brockway, Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 11th from 10am to 12 noon which will be followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM officiated by the Rev. Charles Bowers.

Interment will follow at the Munderf Cemetery.
