Three Golden Eagles Earn Academic All-District Honors

CLARION, Pa. — The 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District basketball teams were announced on Tuesday with three members of the Golden Eagle women’s basketball team—Heather Ansell, Abby Gatesman, and Hannah Wilkerson—earning a spot on the Academic All-District team.

To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or older academically and in terms of their eligibility, must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA or better, and must have played in either 90 percent of their team’s competitions or started 66 percent of their team’s competitions.

Ansell (3.74 – Early Childhood Education) set career highs nearly across the board this past season, appearing in a career-high 27 games in her senior season. She posted new bests in scoring and three-point shooting as well.

Gatesman (3.89 – Physics) finished her four-year career as a Golden Eagle having played in 83 career games, including 50 starts, by starting 27 of her 28 games played in 2023-24. She ranked third on the team in rebounding and first in blocked shots.

Wilkerson (3.53 – Sport Management) burst onto the scene for the Golden Eagles this year, appearing in 28 games with 26 games started. She ranked third on the team in scoring with an average of 8.4 points per game, and her 4.4 rebounds per game ranked second on the team.
