Thursday’s HS Softball Roundup: Brookville, Forest Area Continue to Win

KNOX, Pa. (D9Sports) – Hannah Kirkwood went 4-for-4 with a triple and four runs scored to lead Brookville to a 9-4 win at Keystone.

It was the Lady Raiders fourth straight win, something that hasn’t happened in a decade.

Maggie Miller also went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored for Brookville with Carlie McManigle driving in four runs and Jordan MacWilliams adding a double.

McManigle allowed two runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out two.

Dani Larrow paced Keystone going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Corra Black 2-for-4 with a run scored.

FOREST AREA 11, SHEFFIELD 2

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Cassie Cochran was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead Forest Area to its third straight win, 11-2, over visiting Sheffield.

Allison Lencer added two hits, including a triple, three runs scored and an RBI for the Fires, while Makiya Bellotti was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Destiny Ginnery chipped in with a double.

Jasmine Ginnery got the win going seven innings allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven.

Ashley Frederick was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for Sheffield. Mya Grubbs added a double.

BROCKWAY 11, CAMERON COUNTY 8

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Lead Lindemuth was 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead an 11-hit Brockway outburst in an 11-8 win over visiting Cameron County.

Kayla Dowdall added a 2-for-4 performance as did Anndi Bartlett, who tripled and drove in three. Kaitlyn Morelli also had a pair of hits.

Amily Schatz was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles for Cameron County, while Laila Smith had three singles. Alyvia McKimm chipped in a pair of doubles, and Payton Bloom had two hits with a triple.

Dowdall got the win allowing eight runs on 12 hits and a walk while striking out two.

Smith took the loss giving up 11 runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out three.

The Lady Rovers used a seven-run first to take a 7-0 lead.

PENNS VALLEY 11, CLEARFIELD 4

SPRING MILLS, Pa. – Lydia Collison had a home run and a double to lead Penns Valley to an 11-4 win over Clearfield.

Ryan Thompson added a pair of singles for the Lady Rams, while Abby Thom had a double and two RBIs.

Brooke Cline and Abby Fedder both had doubles for Clearfield.

Harley Hess got the win in relief going 4 ⅓ innings allowing two runs on four hits, a walk and a hit batter while striking out four.

Fedder took the loss giving up five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out one in 2 ⅔ innings of work.

ALTOONA 5, DUBOIS 4, 9 INNINGS

ALTOONA, Pa. – Lindsey Fasolo’s walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth gave Altoona a come-from-behind 5-4 win over DuBois.

The Lady Lions tied the game in the seventh on an error before winning it in the ninth.

Alexa Young was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Altoona with Alyson Adams going 2-for-5 with a double and three runs scored.

Rachel Gildersleeve paced DuBois going 4-for-4 with a double. Alexis Ray and Danessa Allison had RBIs for the Lady Beavers.

Young got the win in relief pitching 3 ⅔ scoreless innings allowing four hits while striking out one.

Molly Nosker took the loss. She pitched 8 ⅓ innings allowing five runs, four earned, on nine hits and three walks while striking out four.
