Troopers Recover Discarded Handgun at Scene of Saturday Foot Pursuit

WHITE TWP., Pa. — Troopers have recovered a handgun that was discarded by a fleeing suspect during a vehicle and foot pursuit on Saturday night in Indiana County.

On March 26, 2023, troopers returned to the scene of the foot pursuit at Regency Plaza, 1570 Oakland Avenue in White Township, to search for a weapon that was believed to have been discarded by a fleeing suspect.

While searching the area, troopers located a pistol that was discarded by the adult male passenger who fled from the vehicle on foot and was apprehended nearby.

Troopers previously had seized a loaded .223 rifle from the involved vehicle, a black Dodge Journey.

Troopers are continuing to work to identify the driver of the Dodge Journey that was involved in the pursuit. The driver was observed on surveillance video fleeing on foot across the Regency Plaza parking lot after the Dodge Journey became disabled in the parking lot.

The driver was then picked up by an unknown person in a dark-colored sedan that exited the parking lot and turned right onto North Avenue. That vehicle is believed to be a Honda Accord.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Tpr. Ryan Williams, Troop A, at 724-357-1960.
