Tuesday Softball Roundup: Wruble Lifts DCC Past Johnsoburg


JOHNSONBURG, Pa. (D9Sports) – Behind the pitching and hitting of Ashley Wruble, DuBois Central Catholic picked up an 11-0, six-inning road win over Johnsonburg.

Wruble got the shutout going six innings allowing six hits while striking out 11. She was also 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, a triple, an RBI and three runs scored.

Chelsea Busatto joined Wruble in the three-hit club going 3-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs, while Shay Gulvas, Carley Semancik and Mia Meholick each had a pair of hits.

Gulvas was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, Semanick was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs and Meholick was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Alyssa Bittner added a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

Alyssa Kasmierski was 2-for-3 with a double for Johnsonburg.

Lindsey Kocjancic took the loss going four innings allowing eight runs, four earned, on nine hits while striking out three. Maria Jones pitched two innings giving up three earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two.

KANE SWEEPS BROCKWAY

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Kane swept a doubleheader at Brockway beating the Lady Rovers by scores of 22-12 in five innings and 25-2 in three innings.

In the 22-12 victory, Ella Marconi and Alyssa Oakes each drove in three runs with Marconi going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and four runs scored and Oakes going 1-for-1 with a double, a walk and a run scored.

Also for the Lady Wolves Katlyn Young was 1-for-3 with two walks and four runs scored, Emma Ely was 1-for-3 with two walks, two RBIs and two runs scored, Trista Kring was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI, Rachael Haight had an RBI and three runs scored and Rachel Danielson was 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and three runs scored.

For Brockway, Mackenzie Overbeck was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs, Morgan Rendos was 1-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and two RBIs, Leah Lindemuth was 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, Morgan Lindemuth was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored and Emily Botwright was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

In the 25-2 win for Kane, Marconi doubled and homered while going 4-for-4 with four runs scored and seven RBIs to lead the way for the Lady Wolves.

Also for Kane, Kennedy Himes walked three times, drove in three and scored three times and Ely was 1-for-1 with three walks, an RBI and four runs scored.

Botwright and Haley Hoover had RBIs for Brockway with Hoover and Rendos both collecting doubles.

Danielson got the win going three innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four.

TYRONE 4, CLEARFIELD 1

TYRONE, Pa. – Cate Baran threw a three-hitter to lift Tyrone to a 4-1 win over visiting Clearfield.

Baran went seven innings, didn’t walk a batter and struck out 10 while giving up an unearned run.

Helping herself by going 2-for-3 with an RBI, Baran was joined in the multiple-hit club by Allysan Jones (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 R) and Ella Pearson (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 R)

Brooke Cline had a triple for Clearfield with MacKenzie Lansberry scoring a run.

Abby Fedder took the loss going 4 ⅔ innings giving up four runs, three earned, on six hits and a walk while striking out three. Erica Hanes went 1 ⅓ innings allowing a hit and a walk while striking out one.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 11, CURWENSVILLE 1, 6 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Jenna Weisner and Brandi Clyde each hit home runs to help Elk County Catholic to an 11-1, six-inning win over visiting Curwensville.

Weisner was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored with Clyde going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Sady VanAlstine added a double while going 1-for-3 with three RBIs with Rosina Nero going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Maggie Dinsmore 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Bailey Blooms was 1-for-2 with a double for Curwensville with Sabrina Spencer going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Josie Smith got the win going six innings allowing one unearned run on five hits and two walks while striking out five.
