According to police, around 2:54 p.m. on October 7, three vehicles were traveling north on Route 119 in Henderson Township.

Cynthia A. Reiter, 60, of Stump Creek, was reportedly attempting to complete a left hand turn onto Kramer Road while two vehicles were approaching from the rear.

One of the vehicles, a 1998 International Harvester Eagle driven by Stephen D. Basinger, 60, of Waterloo, N.Y., was allegedly following too closely and was unable to slow down enough to let Reiter complete the turn.

Police say Basinger then hit a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by Jeffrey L. Deturk, 51, of West Newton, in the left rear. This reportedly caused Deturk’s vehicle to strike the rear of Reiter’s 2012 Ford Fiesta.

All three vehicles came to a final rest in the northbound lane near the intersection of Route 119 and Kramer Road.

All three drivers were wearing seat belts during the accident.

Basinger was not injured. Deturk sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene. Reiter sustained minor injuries ad was transported to Penn Highlands ER.

Basinger was charged with a driving traffic violation.

Basinger’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Bloom Towing. Deturk’s vehicle was towed from the scene by South Side Towing.

Big Run Fire Department and Jefferson County EMS assisted at the scene.
