car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85-300x225HUSTON TWP,, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a two-vehicle accident occurred in a construction zone on State Route 153, north of Mechling Road, in Huston Township, Clearfield County.

According to police, the crash involved 39-year-old Kara L. Wilson, of Johnsonburg, and 44-year-old Kimberly S Briggs, of Ridgway.

This crash occurred as a 2009 Honda Pilot – driven by Briggs – was stopped in traffic located in the southbound lane of travel on Route 153 at the entrance to a construction area.

A 2000 Dodge Neon – driven by Wilson – was traveling behind the Honda and failed to see the stopped traffic. When Wilson noticed the stopped traffic, she slammed on the vehicle’s brakes and attempted to miss the Honda but rear-ended it in its rear driver’s side bumper and fender causing major damage to the Honda.

The Dodge then continued south and crossed over the northbound lane of travel and exited the roadway to the east and struck a ditch with its front end, causing major damage to the front of the Dodge.

The Dodge came to a final rest on the roadway in the southbound lane.

Both drivers and a passenger in Briggs’ vehicle – 52-year-old Donald E. Park, of Ridgway – were using seat belts and were not injured.

Wilson was charged with a traffic violation.
