Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 36, Rose Township

ROSE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 3:05 p.m. on July 30, a two-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 36, south of McGarey Road, in Rose Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, 85-year-old Aletta Carrier, of Summerville, and 62-year-old Thomas E. Wanke, of Vincennes, Indiana, were involved in the collision.

Police say for unknown reasons, Carrier crossed over the double yellow lines traveling south on SR 36, and the front left of her 2006 Honda Accord struck the left rear wheel of Wanke’s International Harvester’s trailer.

The Honda continued southbound for approximately 400 yards before becoming disabled, according to police.

The truck stopped at the point of impact and sustained minor damage to the towed trailer, police say.

Both drivers and a passenger in Carrier’s car, 81-year-old Patty J. Daugherty, also of Summerville, were using seat belts and were not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
