Two Women Injured in Chain Reaction Crash on Route 119

BELL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say two women were transported by ambulance from the scene of a chain-reaction crash that occurred on State Route 119 on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, around 1:58 p.m. on October 18, a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash occurred on State Route 119 near its intersection with Albion Road in Bell Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 64-year-old Linda S. Ray, of Blairsville, was operating a 2017 Hyundai Elantra, and 67-year-old Daniel E. Barr, of Punxsutawney, was operating a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, and both were stopped on State Route 119 waiting for another vehicle to turn onto Albion Road.

A 2011 Toyota Yaris, operated by 18-year-old Kaitlin E. Kurtz, of Reynoldsville, then struck Ray’s vehicle from behind, causing Ray’s vehicle to hit Barr’s vehicle.

All three drivers and a passenger in Ray’s vehicle, identified as 52-year-old Terry V. Wadsworth, of Blairsville, were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Kurtz and Ray both suffered suspected minor injuries and were transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS.

Barr and Wadsworth were not injured.

Kurtz’s vehicle and Ray’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Brosius Towing.

Barr’s vehicle sustained minor rear-end damage and was driven from the scene.

Punxsutawney Central Fire Company, Lindsey Fire Company, and Elk Run Fire Company also assisted at the scene.

Kurtz was cited for following too closely.
