Arraignment Held for Brookville Standoff Suspect Accused of Assaulting Three-Year-Old Child

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville man, who was taken into custody following a three-hour long standoff in the borough, was arraigned Friday on charges related to the alleged assault of a three-year-old child.

Brookville Borough Police said the incident happened Thursday around 7:00 p.m. in the 100 block of Geist Way.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Glenn Bruce Beal Jr., 35, of Brookville, allegedly strangled a 3-year-old child. He also allegedly struck the child on the head and face.

Following a three-hour standoff, Beal was taken into custody without incident.

Beal was charged with one first-degree felony count of strangulation and one first-degree felony count of aggravated assault.

Beal was placed in the Jefferson County Jail after failing to post 10% of $70,000 cash bail.

He was arraigned on Friday, January 19, at 9:20 a.m. before District Judge Gregory Bazylak.

A preliminary hearing is slated for February 2 at 11:15 a.m. with Judge Bazylak presiding.
