Vehicle Slams Head-On into Tree in Washington Township

car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85-300x225WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a one vehicle crash occurred on February 11 around 8:41 p.m. on T-602, in North Pancoast, Washington Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, Justin M. Martino, 19, of Sykesville and passenger Krysten L. Mauthe, 18, of DuBois, were traveling south in a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado truck on an ice covered roadway.

While negotiating a left hand curve in the roadway, Martino attempted to slow down and then began sliding.

The vehicle continued to slide off the west side of the roadway and struck a tree head on, then spun in a clockwise rotation before coming to a final rest on the road.

Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts and neither suffered injuries.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Martino was charged with a traffic violation.
