Vehicle vs Deer Collision on Route 119

NORTH MAHONING TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 6:45 a.m. today a one-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 119 Highway north, 1870 feet south of Engle Drive, in North Mahoning Township, Indiana County.

According to police, 38-year-old Dawson R. Demeka, of DuBois, was traveling south on SR 119, negotiating a curve just south of Engle Drive.

As his 2005 Dodge Durango traveled around the left curve in the roadway, a deer was standing within the southbound lane of travel.

Demeka could not avoid the deer and struck it with the passenger side front of the vehicle causing disabling damage.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Demeka was using a seat belt and was not injured.
