Victor Stephen DeSantis, 76, of Main Street Brockway, PA; died on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born on February 28, 1944 in DuBois, he was the son of the late Anthony J. and Mary Pisoni DeSantis.
Victor was a 1962 graduate of the Brockway High School. He served in the the United States Marine Corp from 1967 to 1969, and fought in the TET Offensive in Vietnam in 1968. He was proud to have served his country.
He was married to Cheryl Anderson on September 1, 1970 and they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on September 1, 2020.
Victor was a self-employed contractor and Master Carpenter for over 40 years, retiring in 2010. Vic and his Uncle Henry (Hank) Pisoni were the co-inventors of the fishing lure “The Shad Flasher” in the 1990’s.
He was a member of the Brockport VFW Club, the Sons of Italy Club, the Brockway and Horton Sportsmen’s Clubs and the former Brockport Army/Navy Club. Over his lifetime he enjoyed all sports. In his younger years he was a team player in local pool leagues and tennis teams. He enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, and especially golfing.
After his retirement, he was able to continue his wood working projects in his “shop,” his place to go every day when he could. His family was his life and he loved spending time with them.
In addition to his wife Cheryl, he is also survived by a daughter Krista (Brian) Sparacino of Kennett Square, PA; a son Jon (J.C.) DeSantis of Brockway; a sister Sylvia (George) Young of St Marys, PA; 2 brothers Joseph (Susan Perry) DeSantis of Guntersville, AL; and James (Susan Miller) DeSantis also of Brockway. Vic is also survived by 2 grandchildren Olivia and Julian Sparacino.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a sister Madelyn DeSantis Ferraro.
Calling hours will be on Friday, February 12 from 11AM to 1PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM also at the funeral home with Msgr. Charles Kaza officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded Friday morning at the funeral home by Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion.
Burial will be in the Wildwood Cemetery at the end of Maple Street in Brockway. Vic and Cheryl as youngsters both grew up on Maple Street where they played baseball and went sled riding in the cemetery. He and Cheryl’s first home was on Maple Street and that is where he chose to be buried.
