Vincenzo Guarino

Vincenzo Guarino, age 86 of Buzzard Street Brockway, PA; died on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at his residence.

Born on April 5, 1935, in Rosolini, Italy; he was the son of the late Cesario and Carolina Salemi Guarino.

As a young man, Vincenzo lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he played soccer at the professional level for team Nueva Chicago.

At a very young age he developed a love of music, singing and learning many different languages and dialects. This passion for music led him, through a scholarship, to study Voice and Opera at the Massimo Opera House in Palermo, Italy. Moving to New York City, he went to work as a Language Interpreter for the NYC Court System translating Italian, Italian dialects and Spanish. Never giving up his passion for music, Vincenzo became a musical entertainer singing at such historic buildings as Carnegie Hall and for many different opera companies in New York and New Jersey. He performed many operas at the Lincoln Center Damrosch Park Band Shell for many years.

After moving to Brockway in 2016, he joined the Village Voices where he continued to use his musical talents. Vincenzo never lost his love of music and for opera, his love for the game of soccer, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Carol Del Ponte of Brockway, PA; Maria Napolitano of New York; a son, Anthony (Kathleen) Guarino of New York; 2 brothers, Richard Guarino also of Brockway with whom he made his home and Mario Guarino of New York. He is also survived by 5 granddaughters: Amanda Del Ponte, Nicole (Brian) Miller, Julia Del Ponte, Bianca Reiss, and Giana Napolitano; his son-in-law, John Del Ponte of Brockway, and his life-long friend, Lavonne Beardmore of New York.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a brother, Salvatore Guarino. Calling hours will be on Sunday, August 15 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 16 at 11 AM at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with Msgr. Charles Kaza officiating. Burial will be in St. Tobias Cemetery.
