Virginia M. Griffith

Virginia M. Griffith, 89, of the DuBois Village, formerly of DuBois and Bowie, Maryland, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, at the DuBois Village.

Mrs. Griffith was born in New Kensington, PA, on June 20, 1928, to Leroy and Ida (Zetler) Miller.

Her husband of 44 years, Harry Griffith, passed away on August 31, 1990.

Mrs. Griffith graduated in 1946 from Falls Creek High School. After 19 years in Greenville, PA, the Griffiths returned to their hometown of DuBois in 1971, when Mr. Griffith was transferred to the manager position of the former Brown’s Boot Shops. Mrs. Griffith worked for DuBois Deposit Bank before relocating in 1986 to Bowie, Maryland with her husband, who accepted a position as assistant manager of Buster Brown Shoes in Annapolis Mall, Annapolis, MD. Mrs. Griffith worked for Radiology Diagnostic Centers as an office manager of Nuclear Medicine, from which she retired in 2000.

Mrs. Griffith was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church in DuBois, PA. She enjoyed baking and will always be remembered for her delicious cookies and chocolate fudge, which she shared with everyone. She spent most of her weekends attending her granddaughter’s numerous dance performances.

Surviving Mrs. Griffith are a son, Ron Griffith, and his wife Sharon, of Adrian, Michigan, a daughter, Joyce Adzima, and her husband, Phil, of Bowie, MD, and a granddaughter, Heather Adzima of New York City, NY.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy Miller and Ida (Zetler) Miller of Falls Creek, a sister, Dorothy Mohney of Punxsutawney, and a sister, Mary Louise Shobert of DuBois.

Friends and family will be received Friday, February 9, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. A funeral service will follow Friday’s visitation at noon with Rev. Charles Lee officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
