Wanted Man Found in Crawl Space Kicks Through Floor, Jumps Through Window

PolicePUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Police say a wanted man kicked through a floor and jumped through a window in a bid to escape police.

Punxsutawney-based State Police conducted a warrant service at a residence on Cherry Street in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County, around 5:30 p.m. on June 21.

Police say 33-year-old Joshua Burnside, of Punxsutawney, was found hiding in a crawl space in a laundry room in the residence.

According to police, Burnside began kicking the floor, then fell through it and landed on a known victim, causing bodily injury.

Police say Burnside then jumped through the victim’s closed window, breaking it, but was met outside by numerous police officers and was taken into custody.

Court documents indicate the following charges were filed against Burnside through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on June 22:

– Burglary – Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Bodily Injury Crime, Felony 1
– Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure, Felony 3
– Flight To Avoid Apprehension/Trial/Punishment, Felony 3
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
– Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
– Criminal Mischief – Damage Property, Misdemeanor 3

A preliminary hearing for the case has not yet been scheduled
