WEATHER ALERT: Flash Flood Watch Remains in Effect for Area


JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for Jefferson County and surrounding areas.

The following alert was issued by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh at 3:46 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017:

Butler-Clarion-Jefferson-Beaver-Allegheny-Armstrong-Washington-Greene-Hancock-Brooke-Ohio-Marshall-Wetzel-Marion-Monongalia-

Including the cities of Butler, Clarion, Punxsutawney, Brookville, Aliquippa, Beaver Falls, Ambridge, Monaca, Pittsburgh Metro Area, Kittanning, Ford City, Washington, Canonsburg, Waynesburg, Weirton, Follansbee, Wellsburg, Wheeling, Moundsville, New Martinsville, Fairmont, and Morgantown

…FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT…

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, including the following areas, in Pennsylvania, Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Greene, Jefferson, and Washington. In West Virginia, Brooke, Hancock, Marion, Marshall, Monongalia, Ohio, and Wetzel.

* Through late tonight

* Showers and storms capable of excessive heavy rain are expected Friday morning and into Friday night.

* System totals of 1 to 2 inches of rain can be expected, with some isolated higher totals possible. Flash flooding will be possible in areas that receive the heaviest rain.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
