The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh issued the following Urgent Winter Weather Message at 11:51 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW…SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN…WHICH IS IN
EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 5 PM EST TUESDAY.

* HAZARD TYPES…

* ACCUMULATIONS…SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATION OF 1 TO 2 INCHES…ALONG WITH AROUND A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE.

* TIMING…SNOW WILL BEGIN TOWARD DAYBREAK…MIXING WITH SLEET AND CHANGING TO FREEZING RAIN IN THE AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS…ICE AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS MAY CREATE SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS AND PRODUCE SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES.

* WINDS…SOUTH 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH.
