Wednesday’s High School Baseball Roundup: Dworek Clutch Hit Lifts Brookville Past Brockway

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Bryan Dworek’s two-out, two-run single in the fifth and Aaron Park’s run-scoring single in the sixth helped Brookville rally and hold off Brockway for an 8-7 win at McKinley Field.

The Raiders led the Rovers 4-2 before Brockway batted around and scored four runs in the top of the fifth, but the Raiders kept scoring runs in every inning to get the win.

Park went five innings, giving up six hits and six runs, just two of them earned while striking out four and walking two. He also singled in a run in the Raiders’ two-run first inning.

Seth Dunkle also had two hits, doubling and scoring from second on an errant pickoff throw to first in the fourth inning. Ben Reitz, who got the final six outs for the save, singled twice and scored two runs.

Reitz worked around three singles in the Rovers’ seventh inning, striking out the side including the final two batters with runners at first and second.

Matthew Clark had two RBI singles, including one in the seventh inning. Jesse Johnson added two singles.

Tyler Serafini took the loss, going 5 1/3 innings and allowing nine hits while walking two and striking out two. He gave up all eight runs, just four of them earned.

REDBANK VALLEY 6, CLARION-LIMESTONE 3

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Grayson Harman went 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored to help Redbank Valley to a 6-3 road win over Clarion-Limestone.

Winning pitcher Bryan Layton also went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI with Blaney Brooks went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Layton went five innings allowing three unearned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out two.

Harman picked up a hold going 1 ⅓ innings walking one and striking out one. Brooks then came on with a runner at first and one out in the seventh and got the save needing five pitches to get two saves.

Ian Hawthorn and Colby Himes doubled for C-L with Himes scoring a run. Sam Leadbetter was 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Leadbetter took the loss going six innings allowing six runs, two earned, on seven hits and two walks and 10 strikeouts.

CLARION 15, FOREST AREA 0, 3 INNINGS

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. – Lake Staub, Ryan Anthony, Cam Craig, Skylar Rhoades and Donald Dunkle each had two RBIs to help Clarion to a 15-0, three-inning win over visiting Forest Area at the Clarion County Park.

Kyle Patterson scored three times for the Bobcats with Spencer Miller and Dominic Fleming each scoring twice.

Rhoades and Mitch Geiger combined to throw a 34-pitch no-hitter. Rhoades went two innings throwing 27 pitches while striking out five. Geiger then went one inning needing seven pitches to get three outs while striking out one.

WILLIAMSPORT 10, PUNXSUTAWNEY 0, 5 INNINGS

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Quentin Brown was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and four RBIs to lead visiting Williamsport to a 10-0, five-inning victory over Punxsutawney.

Meanwhile, Tanner Esposito and Isaac Snyder combined to one hit the Chucks.

Esposito got the win going four innings allowing the hit and three walks while striking out seven. Snyder struck out one in an inning of work.

Ryan Jolin and Jalen Jackson both added a pair of RBIs for the Millionaires with Jolin going 1-for-4 with a double and Jackson 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.

Jesse Cornell was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Williamsport, Ethan Stryker was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Cody Shimp was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Riley Hilner scored twice.

Lucas Burkett had Punxsutawney’s lone hit.

Isaac Stouffer took the loss going four innings allowing six runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three.
