Wednesday’s High School Softball Roundup: Lingenfelter on Fire as Punxsy Junior Tosses Fourth Straight Shutout

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (D9Sports) – Kylee Lingenfelter continued her outstanding work in the circle tossing a one-hit shutout while striking out 15 in a 3-0 Punxsutawney win at Williamsport.

Lingenfelter, who has given up eight runs, six earned, all season, tossed her fourth straight shutout. During that span, she has given up three hits seven walks, including two vs. Williamsport while striking out 56. The 15 strikeouts marked the ninth double-digit strikeout game for the junior committed to Penn State this season and the fourth time she has fanned at least 15.

Grace Aikens backed her pitcher going 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Morgan Adamson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Kim Shoemaker was also 2-for-3.

Cali Shields had a double for Williamsport.

Mikayla Aldenderfer took the loss going seven innings allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three.

BROOKVILLE 8, CURWENSVILLE 0

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Led by Abby Sunealitis and Jordan MacWilliams, Brookville rapped out 13 hits on its way to an 8-0 win over visiting Curwensville.

Sunealitis and MacWilliams both had a pair of hits and two RBIs for the Lady Raiders.

Joining the duo in picking up a pair of base knocks for Brookville were Carlie McManigle, Maggie Miller and Lauren Hergert. Hannah Kirkwood chipped in a triple.

Ariel Zattoni was 2-for-3 for Curwensville.

McManigle got the win going seven innings allowing four hits and a walk while striking out two.

DUBOIS 10, HOLLIDAYSBURG 0, 5 INNINGS

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. – Scoring nine times in the first two innings, visiting DuBois cruised to a 10-0, five-inning win over Hollidaysburg.

Maddie Smith went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored for the Lady Beavers, while Kylee Bundy was 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Autumn Shaffer also pitched in two RBIs and a run scored with one hit, while Katie Zameroski scored twice as did Laura Fatula, who also drove in a run.

Sarah Snyder tossed a two-hit shutout walking five and striking out five in five innings.

A-C VALLEY 14, FOREST AREA 3

TIONESTA, Pa. – Emily Wetzel had herself a game in a 14-3 A-C Valley road win over Forest Area at West Forest.

Wetzel was 4-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, two stolen bases and two RBIs and also was the winning pitcher tossing 5 ? innings of scoreless relief allowing one unearned run while striking out six.

She had plenty of help on offense.

Kylee Eaton went 3-for-3 with a triple, a stolen base and three RBIs, Cam McNany also drove in three runs while going 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and a stolen base. Annie Viertel (2-for-4, double, stolen base) and Myia Page (1-for-3, double) also had a pair of RBIs, while Kelsie Terwilliger was 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored and Elyssa Papucci was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base.

GLENDALE 12, CLEARFIELD 8

IRVONA, Pa. – Glendale rode a seven-run first inning to a 12-8 win over visiting Clearfield Wednesday night at Elderberry Park in Irvona.

Lexi Mulhollenn hit a home run while Makenzie Lukehart had three hits, including a double and a triple, two runs scored and an RBI for the Lady Vikings. Sydney Gallaher also had a double and two RBIs with Cierra O’Shell picking up a pair of hits, including a double, and an RBI.

Brooke Cline had four hits, including a double and a triple, for Clearfield while stealing a base, scoring twice and driving in a run. Erica Hanes had two hits, including a double, to go with an RBI.

Kyla Holtz got the win in relief going five innings allowing eight runs, three earned, on seven hits and a walk while striking out six.

Abby Fedder took the loss going two innings giving up nine runs, five earned, on seven hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out two.
