Wilbert G. Lundgren

Wilbert G. Lundgren, MD, age 86, Lundgren Road, DuBois, PA died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the home of his daughter.

Born October 17, 1928 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Wilbert C. & Genevieve (Harber) Lundgren.

He served as a corpsman in the United States Navy during World War II.

In 1952, he married Ann P. (Albert) Lundgren. She preceded him in death in 2000.

He was a graduate of DuBois Area High School and Pennsylvania State University. He then graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He began his residency at Dartmouth University Hospital and finished at York Hospital. He returned to his hometown to practice medicine becoming the first Board Certified General Surgeon in DuBois with a career spanning 30 years, touching the lives of generations in our community.

He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Wildlife Habitat Unlimited and Trout Unlimited. He enjoyed fly fishing with dry flies. He was an avid wrestling fan and longtime team physician for the DuBois Area High School Wrestling Team.

Dr. Lundgren is survived by his children: Susanne Morelli of Penfield, PA, Eric Lundgren, MD and his wife, Lauren of DuBois, PA, John Lundgren and his wife, Sarah of Winchester, VA, and Paula Lundgren, MD and her husband, Tom DeMark of Belmont, NC, eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gail Lundgren, PhD, and Kathryn Hand, his son in law, Pete Morelli and his long time companion, Ruth Nichol.

There will be no public visitation and a private family interment will be held.

A public memorial service from the Lakeside United Methodist Church will be announced at a later date.

Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
