William C. Gilmore

William C. Gilmore, 86, of 1112 JoJo Road, Kane, died Tuesday morning, May 5, 2020 at the home of his daughter in Moravia, N.Y.

Born July 7, 1933 in Brookville, he was the son of Russell and Gladys Weirich Gilmore. On March 28, 1953, he married Elizabeth Cummings, who survives.

Bill had been a warehouse manager for the Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Pittston. Earlier, he served in the armed forces during the Korean War.

He belonged to VFW #1132 in Kane, and had been a member of the Kane Vol. Fire Dept. and the Kane Lions Club. He enjoyed working outside and especially mowing on his John Deere tractor.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Diane Gilmore of Kane and Susan Gilmore of Moravia; a son Ralph (Linda) Gilmore of Kane; brothers Bob Gilmore and Cal Gilmore, both of Ridgway and Tom Gilmore of Johnsonburg. He is further survived by grandchildren Betsy Bryant, Earl Wright, Greg Jones, Luke, Abraham and Cyrus Gilmore and Jude Daloia; plus great grandchildren Lexi, Aiden, Abbie, Ean, Benjamin, Delainey, Norah, Sean, Emily, Sierra and Annabelle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Pauline McMillen, Doris Keneske and Gertrude Erdman, and brothers Joseph and Donald Gilmore.

A service will be held with COVID-19 restrictions at 1:00 on Friday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. with the Rev. Calvin Cook, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane.

Memorial contributions may be made to a church or charity of the donor’s choice.
