BELL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A woman waived her hearing on Tuesday on child endangerment and related charges from an incident where she was reportedly caught driving under the influence of marijuana with an infant in her vehicle in Bell Township.
Court documents indicate the following charges against 30-year-old Lacey Victoria Moore, of Port Matilda, were waived for court on Tuesday, July 7:
– Endangering Welfare of Children – Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1
– DUI: Controlled Substance – Schedule 1 – 1st Offense, Misdemeanor
– DUI: Controlled Substance – Impaired Ability – 1st Offense, Misdemeanor
– Disregard Traffic Lane (Single), Summary
– Operate Vehicle Without Valid Inspection, Summary
The charges have been transferred to the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas.
Moore remains free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.
The charges stem from a traffic stop in Bell Township in late February.
Details of the case:
According to a criminal complaint, around 7:33 p.m. on February 24, Punxsutawney-based State Police observed a red Dodge van on State Route 119, in Bell Township, Jefferson County, having difficulty maintaining its lane and crossing both the double yellow lines and the white line multiple times.
In the area of Airport Road, the troopers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.
According to the complaint, the driver, identified as Lacey Victoria Moore, had a baby in a car seat in the back passenger side seat, as well as a female passenger in the front passenger seat.
The troopers noted an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and then asked Moore to step out and perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.
The complaint states that when asked about when she last smoked marijuana, Moore stated around 6:00 p.m. that night.
During the sobriety tests, she showed several indicators of intoxication and was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the complaint.
The complaint also notes that when checking Moore’s insurance and registration, police also discovered her inspection was expired.
The charges were filed against Moore through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on June 19.
