Woman Killed, Family of 9 Left Homeless in Marienville Fire

Red FiretruckJENKS TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Officials say a Marienville woman was killed in a structure fire Saturday in Jenks Twp., Forest County.

Fire officials say the blaze broke out around 11 a.m. at a residence located at 5558 Blood Road.

At 12:34 p.m., Forest County Coroner Norman J. Wimer arrived on scene and pronounced 66-year-old Madeline M. Farren dead.

Wimer told exploreClarion.com that a family of nine lived in the home, and that they lost everything in the fire.

“Everything they owned was in that house, and it’s a total loss.” said Wimer. “But to also lose their wife, mother, grandmother, is just unthinkable. My heart goes out to the family.”

Wimer says the cause of the fire is not suspicious and the manner of death will be ruled accidental. The official cause of death will be determined pending further investigation.

Marienville Volunteer Fire Company, Washington Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, Farmington Twp. Volunteer Fire Company, Sigel Volunteer Fire Company, Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal, and Marienville-based State Police also responded the scene.
