ROSE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Three individuals were injured in a rollover accident that occurred on Sunday night on State Route 28, in Rose Township, Jefferson County.
According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 8:32 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 30-year-old Marquita S. Wagner, of New Bethlehem, was traveling southbound on Route 28, east of Coder Road. Her 2004 Ford Explorer was traveling on a downhill slope in a straight direction with no curves in the roadway. She lost control of the Explorer for unknown reasons, crossed over into the northbound lane, and exited the eastern side of the roadway. The Explorer subsequently impacted the embankment, rolled over onto its roof, and slid to a final rest.
Wagner and two juveniles – an eight-year-old female and a seven-year-old female, both of New Bethlehem – were not using seat belts and suffered injuries.
The two juvenile passengers were flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital for suspected minor injuries.
Wagner was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for suspected serious injuries.
The front seat passenger – 24-year-old Zachary T. Wagner, of New Bethlehem – was using a seat belt was not injured.
State Police were assisted by Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Jefferson County EMS.
McPherson Towing removed the Explorer from the scene.
