Brockway Man Who Absconded from Jefferson County Jail During Work Release Waives Hearing

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Brockway man who reportedly absconded from the Jefferson County Jail during work release waived his hearing in court on Tuesday.

Court documents indicate one third-degree felony count of escape filed against 33-year-old Christopher Eugene Noland was waived for court on April 6.

The charge has been transferred to the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas.

Noland remains lodged in the Jefferson County Jail with bail for this case set at $50,000.00 monetary on this case.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:30 a.m. on January 20, Punxsutawney-based State Police received notification from a Jefferson County Probation Officer that Christopher Eugene Noland, who was on work release from the Jefferson County Jail, had absconded during his work-release program.

The complaint states Noland reported to work at 4:00 a.m. on January 20, then left without authorization around 5:00 a.m.

Police say Noland was later located by the DuBois City Police and DuBois-based State Police and was taken back into custody without incident. Noland was then processed and transported to the Jefferson County Jail by Jefferson County Adult Probation.

Noland was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak at 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20.

Court documents indicate Noland has a history of criminal activity in the local region, with ongoing cases in Indiana and Elk Counties and previous cases in Jefferson and Clearfield Counties.
